A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. The following were observed: - Stairs by the front entrance: large pieces of cement were missing - Multiple paint chips around the facility - Swing in the playground has rips

Corrective action. Assistant manager said she will have someone to come in to fix the above mentioned items and ensure the facility is in good repair and clean.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Upon inspection there was a loose cord on the wall next to a crib in the infant nap room that could pose a strangulation hazard.

Corrective action. The manager advised the cord will be fastened to the wall prior to a child napping in the crib next to the cord.

A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,

Observation. Upon inspection there was expired medication for a child in the Group Child Care 30 months to School Age class. There was also no written documentation guiding staff as to when it is required to be taken.

Corrective action. Ensure medication is not expired and there are instructions to guide staff.

Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

Observation. Upon inspection there are 7 children in the toddler room who turned 3 between September 2024 and January 2025.

Corrective action. The manager advised she is going to apply for a temporary retention from licensing.

Observation. Inappropriate guidance was occurring in the 30 months to School Age program.

Corrective action. Ensure that behavioural guidance is appropriate to the age and development of the child who is receiving the guidance.

Observation. A staff’s certificate was not validated prior to hire.

Corrective action. The manager said all staff certificates will be validated prior to them working in the facility.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. There was no record of the evacuation drill.

Corrective action. The manager advised that the emergency evacuation drill was practiced and moving forward will be recorded.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.

Corrective action. The manager advised she will have all staff provide their immunization status.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The change table in the infant room was visibly dirty. Staff were unable to provide licensing details on the last time it was cleaned.

Corrective action. Please ensure the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

Observation. Upon inspection, the managers name was not posted.

Corrective action. Please ensure the managers name is displayed in a prominent place in the community care facility.

Observation. Infant/Toddler Ratio - Staff to Child ratio not maintained. (IT/ECE/ASST)

Corrective action. Please ensure the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. Upon inspection, licensing noted multiple departure times were missing for children who were in care. Licensing discussed systems for recording attendance.

Corrective action. Please ensure there is a record showing the daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection, one or more employees did not have their certificates validated.

Corrective action. Please ensure all educator and assistant certificates are verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.

Observation. Staff to child ratio did not meet the requirements set out in schedule E

Corrective action. Corrective Action Plan provided

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed cleaning supplies within the reach of children next to a sink in the 3-5 bathroom and on a table in the toddler room. A staff removed these items during the inspection.

Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to any substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Corrected during inspection.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Large areas of wear and tear on the cabinet doors in the IT room where the paint is chipping, posing a risk if a child were to ingest - Infants blankets are stored together in a cabinet where they are touching which is not hygienic.

Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing confirmed that the heating system is not working.

Observation. A care plan does not include the course of action recommended by health care professionals for a child requiring additional support.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection there was: -A heater on the counter (that was hot to touch) with a cord accessible to the children that posed a burn/fall hazard if a child pulled it down. -The washroom door was open in the Infant room leaving the toilet accessible to the infants that posed a drowning hazard.The garbage in the washroom was not covered and accessible to the infants also. -In the hallway,within close proximity to the children's cubbies a door was open giving children access to the storage room that had tools and building paint stored.

Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.

Observation. Upon inspection there was one staff who did not have her licence to practice posted.

Corrective action. Please ensure a copy of staff's certificate is posted in a prominent place the facility.

Observation. Upon speaking to staff, Licensing found that there was no Infant and Toddler educator on the premise between 7-11am while the infant program was in session, with children attending.
