    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Upon inspection, the refrigerator temperature was 6 degrees Celsius. The licensee advised she has turned it down and is going to be monitoring it.

    Corrective action. Ensure fridge temperature between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

    Observation. Upon arrival, the gate leading to the street was not latched and was difficult to latch. This is a repeat contravention.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the outdoor play area is enclosed, ensuring that children are free from harm. Licensee latched the gate during the inspection.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing Officer observed the following: - an unsecured cord from a baby monitor in the children's nap space which was potentially accessible to children, posing a risk of entanglement. - one of the four latches securing the cover on the hot tub was not latched. This is a repeat contravention.

    Corrective action. Licensee shortened and secured the cord during the inspection; ensuring that there is no risk of entanglement. The hot tub latch was secured during the inspection.

    A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.

    Observation. Upon arrival, Licensing Officer knocked at the door leading to the daycare. When the door wasn't answered, Licensing Officer looked in the window and observed that children were downstairs in the main activity area. Licensing Officer continued to knock and the Licensee was observed coming from upstairs. Licensee explained that she had left briefly. This is a repeat contravention.

    Corrective action. Children must be supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult
