• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Upon inspection, additional folded foam mattresses were placed in children's playpens to sleep. The Licensee said she did this to allow for comfort and to prop children's head up.

  Corrective action. The Licensee said she will remove the additional mattresses and ensure she follows the safety instructions of the playpens.

• HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

  A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection, the diaper change pad had a cloth cover. The Licensee advised it shared between all children and is washed daily.

  Corrective action. The Licensee removed the cloth cover and said she will sanitize mat between each change.

• NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES

  A licensee must ensure that children are not (c) left unsupervised while consuming food or drink.

  Observation. Upon inspection, a bottle of milk was observed in a crib with a sleeping child while unsupervised.

  Corrective action. The Licensee stated she will ensure no bottles are left in cribs or consumed while unsupervised.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Upon inspection, fire extinguisher was due for service February 2025 and has not been serviced.

  Corrective action. The Licensee said she will have it serviced

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

  Observation. Upon inspection, 3 staff obtained their first aid however, it did not meet the requirements in Schedule C.

  Corrective action. The Licensee stated all staff will complete the First Aid course as outlined in Schedule C.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for two employees.

  Corrective action. The Licensee said she will obtain the immunization status for both staff
