- POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must (a) ensure that a community care facility has (i) emergency exits that meet the requirements of the BC Building Code, and (ii) a fire drill system that is approved as definedby section 31 of the Fire Services Act.
Observation. A hallway which is used for an emergency exit was partially blocked by a toy shelf limiting a free flow of movement through the area.
Corrective action. The Manager said she will remove the shelf and ensure the hallway is clear and has free access.
13010 - CCLR s.22(1)(a) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Emergency supplies were expired and had not been replenished.
Corrective action. The Manager said she will remove the expired items and replace them.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Fire drills have not been recorded for the year of 2025 (January to November). They have been recorded since opening of the facility to the end of 2024. The Manager said fire drills were practised but were not recorded.
Corrective action. The Manager said she will ensure to record the fire drills.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. There were no attendance records for October, November, December 2024 and from January to November 2025. There were records prior to the times mentioned. At the inspection the Manager completed the attendance record for the week of November 10-14-2025.
Corrective action. The Manager will ensure to maintain attendance records.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Review of attendance records did not indicate times of arrival and departure of children during the months of October, November and a portion of December 2024. There were no attendance records for the week of January 06 to 09, 2025.
Corrective action. Please ensure attendance records are accurate and times of arrival and departure are documented.

Corrective action. Please ensure hot water is not heated to more than 49 degrees Celsius.
