- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.
Observation. First aid kits did not have sufficient materials and were not readily available to staff both inside and outside.
Corrective action. Ensure first aid kits are accessible to staff inside and outside and have materials to provide first aid.
11220 - CCLR s.23(2) - OR SUPERVISION
A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.
Observation. At time of Licensing Officer arrival a group of 9 children were outside alone. Once inside the child care one of the 2 staff left and 1 staff was left with a group of 9 children inside the classroom and 9 children outside. The second staff came back about 5 minutes later.
Corrective action. Ensure that children are supervised at all times
14060 - CCLR s.39(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. There was insufficient food and water for the number of children and staff in the program to respond to an emergency.
