  A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

  Observation. The Licensing Officer reviewed the following concerns at the time of the inspection; - open gate in the outdoor play area posing a potential risk - tarp on the ground exposed posing a tripping hazard

  Corrective action. Ensure the outdoor play area's are enclosed and free from hazards.

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. First aid kits observed on site had medicinal products available to use in the event of injury. The LO reviewed this item at the time of the inspection.

  Corrective action. Ensure medicinal products are not accessible or used without parental permission.

• LICENSING

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.

  Observation. Several qualified educators working in the program did not have evidence of their certificates posted. Some certificates of staff working in the program had their certificates altered which resulted in ineffective identification of staff.

  Corrective action. Ensure qualified educators have their certificates posted and are not blocking the staff's full names.

• NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES

  A licensee must (b) promote healthy eating and nutritional habits.

  Observation. Children were observed eating on the outdoor play area without suitable hygiene habits being practiced. The Licensing Officer reviewed this with the staff and manager's on site at the time of the inspection.

  Corrective action. Ensure healthy eating and nutritional habits are promoted.

  A licensee must make available to parents information on the food and drink given to children.

  Observation. Snack provided by the program to the children was not informed or accurate to the parents.

  Corrective action. Ensure food and drink provided is made available and accurate to the parents.

  A licensee must ensure that safe drinking water is available to children.

  Observation. One of the programs did not have sufficient drinking water available for children in attendance at the time of the inspection.

  Corrective action. Ensure that safe and adequate drinking water is available at all times.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Two qualified staff working in the program did not have their certificates available or validated.

  Corrective action. Ensure qualified staff have their certificates validated through the ECE Registry.

  Observation. There are 2 Managers at the facility, the Manager's name for the 30 months to School age program was not posted.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that the Manager's name is posted.

  Observation. Children were not divided into groups as per Schedule E.
