Observation. Two educator certificates were not posted.
Corrective action. The manager said she will have them posted.
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Review of 5 children's files noted 1 did not have evidence of obtaining emergency contacts.
Corrective action. The manager said she will request this information from the child's parent.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Review of 4 staff files noted 2 did not have verification for the educator certificates.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure to update staff files.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. A minimum of 2 references were not obtained for 1 staff, 4 files were reviewed.
Corrective action. The manager will obtain the references.

Observation. Licensee did not notify the licensing officer within 24 hours that a child was involved in a reportable incident as described in Schedule H as required.
Corrective action. The Licensee to provide corrective measures to ensure appropriate incident reporting practices.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation. The hot water was observed greater than 49 degrees Celsius. The Manager said she will turn off the hot water.
Corrective action. Ensure that the hot water is heated to no more than 49 degrees Celsius.
11230 - CCLR s.47 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The following was observed: - nap blankets and mats were observed touching each other located in one crib. - a number of toys and materials were stored inside one of the bathrooms. It was discussed that the bathroom needs to be accessible for children in care if needed. It was also discussed that children's toys should not be stored in a working bathroom.
Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - OR SUPERVISION
Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. At todays inspection there was an Infant toddler educator, Early childhood educator assistant and a responsible adult present. It was discussed the qualifications required.
Corrective action. Ensure the ratio is no less than schedule E.
14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. 3 of 4 employee files reviewed did not contain immunization status
Corrective action. Ensure that each person employed has a record of immunization status.
