- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. During a walk through of the facility, it was noted that a large wooden play house is stored above the cubby area where children 's belongings are stored, and could cause injury if fell
Corrective action. Manager states they will remove playhouse from the shelf
11200 - CCLR s.17 - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. During a walkthrough of the facility it was noted that the Manager's name is not posted in any of the child care rooms
Corrective action. Manager states that their name will be posted in all 3 rooms
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Audit of staff files revealed one Criminal Record Check has expired

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. It was observed that children's medication is stored in the kitchen fridge, however a fridge thermometer was not present, therefore there is no way to ensure the medication is stored at the appropriate temperature
Corrective action. Manager states a fridge thermometer will be put in place, and ensure the temperature in the fridge is operating between 0 - 4 degrees Celsius
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. During a walk through of the outdoor play space for all programs it was noted that the hand rails that were previously painted are now showing wear, and most of the paint is gone which leaves the exposed wood which can cause splinters.
Corrective action. Manager states that a plan will be implemented to repair the hand rails, and the written plan will be provided to Licensing within 3 weeks time outlining how the repairs will be completed
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. It was noted that hand towels are hanging on the wall and are reused throughout the day
Corrective action. Manager states that additional towels will be provided to ensure they are single use only

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Fire extingushers have not been serviced since 2019
Corrective action. Please ensure all fire extinguishers are serviced annually

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Audit of fire drill records revealed that fire drills are not practised in the months of July and August when the Manager is not on site
Corrective action. Fire drills must be practised and recorded monthly
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (e) written policies and procedures respecting food and drink to be given to children.
Observation. During review of nutrition policy, it is noted that children will not be involved with the prepartion of food, however it was stated that the children do assist with food prepartation
Corrective action. Please follow nutrition policy as written or adjust accordingly
