The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

Observation. Upon review of children's file 1 child appears to require a care plan. Discussion with manager in regards to what should be included within a care plan. (See section 58 in the CCLR)

Corrective action. Please provide a written response by the date below.

A licensee must not employ as a manager a person who, at the time that the person is managing the licensee's community care facility, is also managing another community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon file review, manager is also managing another site and exemption on file has expired.

Corrective action. Manager has submitted a new exemption request to licensing.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a drip mat used under a sensory table. The drip mat was very slippery posing a tripping hazard. A staff removed the drip mat.

Corrective action. Ensure surfaces do not pose a tripping hazard for the children.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Fire extinguisher has not been serviced annually.

Corrective action. Ensure the fire extinguisher is serviced.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. 10 children's files were reviewed. Out of the 10 reviewed, 1 file did not have information for a medical practioner.

Corrective action. Ensure children's files contain a medical practioners name and phone number or a walk in clinic.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. 5 staff files were reviewed, out of the 5 reviewed 1 file did not have a criminal record check.

Corrective action. Ensure all staff files contain a current and valid criminal record check.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. 5 staff files were reviewed, out of the 5 reviewed 3 files did not have verified character references.

Corrective action. Ensure all staff files have verified character references.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. One out of five children's files was without immunization status.

Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are current and complete. Licensing to email, a Children's Immunization Status for as a resource.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Two out of 3 staff files were without completed immunization status.

Corrective action. Please ensure staff files are current and complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. One out three staff files were without completed character references..

Corrective action. Please ensure Staff files are current and complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. A random selection of staff files were reviewed. Out of the 2 reviewed, 1 file did not contain a validation for their ECE Certificate.

Corrective action. Ensure staff holding an educator or assistant certificate, have their certificate verified through the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. A random selection of staff files were reviewed. Out of the 2 reviewed, 1 file did not contain the staff's immunization status.

Corrective action. Ensure there is a record for each employee, indicating they have complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control program.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. A random selection of staff files were reviewed. Out of the 2 reviewed, 1 file did not contain character references.

Corrective action. Ensure character references in respect of the person is on file.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. A random selection of staff files were reviewed. Out of the 2 reviewed, 1 file did not contain a criminal record check.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. A selection of staff files were reviewed, out of the 6 files reviewed, 2 files did not contain immunization status.

Corrective action. Ensure immunization status is on file for all staff.

Observation. A selection of staff files were reviewed, out of the 6 files reviewed, 3 files did not have a criminal record check. The Manager said the CRC's have already been applied for.

Corrective action. Ensure a criminal record check is on file for all staff.
