Observation. Licensing observed a sign for 'child care ages 1-5' displayed in front of the facility.
Corrective action. Ensure advertising is specific to the service types licensed for.
10060 - CCLR s.11(3) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Licensing observed the fire extinguisher is over due for servicing.
Corrective action. Ensure the fire extinguisher is serviced.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed 10 children in attendance however only 8 signed in. The Manager corrected the sign in/out on site.
Corrective action. Ensure there is a system to record arrival and departure on a daily basis.
19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. A selection of staff files were reviewed. Out of the two reviewed, both files did not contain verified references.
Corrective action. Ensure there is a system to confirm references have been verified.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Garbage bins with no lids, children have access to dirty tissues, gloves etc. - Children's bedding stored together, posing a risk for bacteria and diseases to spread - A 6 ft shelf stored in the children's bathroom not secured to the wall
Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed cleaning products stored on the bathroom shelf accessible to children.
Corrective action. Ensure children have no access to hazardous objects or substances.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. Licensing observed 2 staff certificates were not posted.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff holding an educator or assistant certificate have their certificates posted.
