    A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,

    Observation. There is no resilient surfacing to reduce the risk of injury from falls in the outside play area. The manager explained that there used to be wood chips but it was difficult to maintain this type of surfacing. Bindweed is growing throughout the outdoor play area and is starting to grow around play equipment. The manager explained the landlord is responsible for weeding this area.

    Corrective action. The manager said that funding to replace wood chips may be applied for and that the landlord will be asked to remove the bindweed from the yard.

    Observation. Licensing observed the children's sheets and blankets on the nap beds touching one another

    Observation. The naproom door in the IT classroom has tape around the latch. As a result, licensing had to apply force to fully open the door.

    Observation. there were multiple children's photographs that are not able to readily identify the child in an emergency. A discussion was had to update the photographs to readily identify the children.

    Corrective action. Ensure that each child has a photograph or digital image that can readily identify them in case of an emergency.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Upon inspection, licensing officer observed the base of the bathroom vanity appears to have been chewed and there is sawdust on the ground. The manager explained that pest control has been in and they will be back for a follow up. The wall in the bathroom has exposed drywall and the sink and toilet appeared not to be clean.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the community care facility, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while the children are in attendance.
