- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation. Outdoor play area has several areas where the mat surfacing has separated causing tripping hazards.
Corrective action. Please provide a corrective action plan to address the concerns.
11160 - CCLR s.16(3)(a) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. Manager name was not prominently posted in any of the program rooms. Some staff certificates were posted in areas that families do not access.
Corrective action. Please ensure all information is prominently posted where required.
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - MEDICATION
If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.
Observation. Medication was not readily accessible to employees.It was located in the facility office when the child was outdoors playing.
Corrective action. Please ensure any medication is immediately available at all times.
16020 - CCLR s.53(1)(b) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must ensure that the policies and procedures referred to in subsection (1) are implemented by employees.
Observation. In discussion with staff it was evident that they were not following the policy for emergency response by practicing the drill to the secondary location. This was further discussed with two staff as a requirement at the next emergency drill.
Corrective action. Please ensure staff follow facility policies at all times.
