- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Observed the sand box is starting to rot and there is the concern of splinters accessible to children. One climber does not have safe clearance of one slide for resilient surfacing. Further discussed with senior staff
Corrective action. Please provide a corrective action plan to licensing.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Observed that sanitizing products are not immediately available in the children's washrooms to sanitize diaper change area.
Corrective action. Please ensure hygiene practices are followed and sanitizers are safely stored.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. One staff on site today did not have a clearance on file. Senior staff will connect with the manager in regard to this.
Corrective action. Staff must not be working with children without evdence of CRC clearance. Please provide a corrective action plan by the date below
12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.
Observation. A record of the person's work history was not obtained for one or more employees.
Corrective action. Please ensure all staff are appropriately screened prior to employment
12060 - CCLR s.19(1)(c) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation. The emergency plan has not been practiced by the staff. This was identified at the previous inspection. Senior staff said they are planning to conduct the drill soon

12200 - CCLR s.22(2)(c) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation. Not all staff have current first aid certification. It was identified that the opening staff do not hold current certification, meaning that children do not have immediate access to an employee who holds first aid and CPR certification.
Corrective action. Please ensure staff not holding FA status do not work alone with children. Please provide a corrective action plan to licensing

Observation. Licensing observed two sink cupboards with cleaning materials inside that were accessible to the children.

11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. In the outdoor play space, Licensing observed: - Resilient surfacing tiles coming apart, exposing gaps and metal bars between. This is a tripping hazard and is a repeat contravention. - A door frame that faces the outdoor play space is roten and coming away from the wall witha protruding nail and sharper edges.
Corrective action. Please provide a corrective action plan to licensing by the date below
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. On review of the plan to evacuate and recover from an emergency, Licensing observed that the emergency supplies would not support recovery for the facility for up to 72 hours, and a second location is not designated to ensure safe evacuation.
Corrective action. Further discussed to ensure sufficient supplies are available at all times and facility has a plan to provide a safe space in case of emergency evacuation.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Licensing reviewed records and observed that the emergency evacuation drill was not recorded with emergency records.
Corrective action. Emergency records template was provided. Please ensyre anual evacuation drills are recorded.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. Licensing observed in the outdoor area that some of the resilient surfacing tiles were coming apart, creating gaps that could cause a tripping hazard or injury to a child.
Corrective action. Please ensure that the outdoor area is safe for children's use. Provide a corrective action plan to Licensing.
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - a staff not washing a child's hands after diaper change, nor sanitizing the diaper change pad immediately after use. Licensing provided a reminder and discussed the requirement for hygiene practices for all children. - Children's bedding collected together on one surface
Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff instruct children in the facility hygiene practices and follow these practices themselves.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. Manager name is not posted at the facility.
Corrective action. Please ensure posting of the manager name to inform the public.
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation. Staff were unable to produce a copy of the facility policies and procedures which are required to guide staff in the care and supervision of children. Manager advised staff that a copy would be sent to Licensing for review.
Corrective action. Discussed the importance of having a copy on site at all times with the supervisor. This will be addressed.
19320 - CCLR s.59(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must keep (a) in the case of employees, all records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements] for the entire time that the subject of the records is an employee of the community care facility.
Observation. On review of staff files, Licensing observed that a staff working on site today did not have a file for review. This staff must not work with children without evidence of suitability and appropriate screening.
Corrective action. Please ensure that appropriate screening for new employees is conducted priot to starting work, and have evidence on site while they are present.

Observation. In discussion with a staff, the annual emergency drill has not been completed. This was confirmed by the manager via phone.
