    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed one small trampoline located in the living room of the home. Manufacturers instructions indicated the suitable age of children using the equipment to be between three and six years old; LO observed one child under the age of three using the equipment. Additionally, LO observed inadequate ground surfacing and no clearance around the play equipment.

  • HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

    Observation. LO observed hand washing practices in which children were using toilet paper to dry their hands.

    Corrective action. Licensee stated she would replace with paper towels.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. LO observed that the fire extinguisher was due for serving on May 5, 2025; an emergency exit was obstructed by various objects, preventing a clear unimpeded path for evacuation; emergency supplies were insufficient for the number of children in care; the limited supplies observed were expired.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed one small trampoline with a missing handle bar, attached to two slides in the indoor play area. This did not meet manufacturer's instructions. These were located within proximity of a fireplace with sharp edges, posing a hazard to children in care. Licensee stated the fireplace was cosmetic and did not work. Additionally, Licensing observed inadequate ground surfacing and no clearance around the play equipment.

    Corrective action. Licensee stated the slides would be removed from the indoor play area and placed outdoors; the trampoline would be removed from play until a handle bar was in place and the sharp edges of the fireplace would be covered.

    Observation. Review of the recording system for fire drills revealed that a fire drill for August was not recorded, therefore unable to confirm if a fire drill was practised with the children in care
