A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. In the upper area of the outdoor play area a post topper is cracked and an area of plexiglass is missing exposing sharp edges.
Corrective action. Please make sure all areas of the outdoor play area are in good repair.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation. A wooden post in the upper outdoor play area is rotting away exposing a rough surface and the potential for children to get slivers if they touch the post.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not access this wooden post.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. The name and contact information for a doctor or medical clinic was not available in 4 children's files.
Corrective action. Please ensure contact information for a medical practitioner is available for all children.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Criminal record checks are not available for 2 staff. The manager stated these have been applied for but not received.
Corrective action. Please ensure criminal record checks are available for all staff when they commence employment.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. there is a large hole located the base of a step, this presents a dangerous tripping hazard,staff are aware of the issue and will create a plan to ensure children are not in danger of harm, the staff have also stated that the office has been informed
Corrective action. please ensure the hole is repaired and as per staff statement a plan is in place to ensure the health and safety of the children in care.
