Observation. The diaper change pad is showing signs of wear and there is a hole is the plastic covering.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure that the change pad is repaired or replaced.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. A record of a current criminal record check was not available for one staff.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure there is a record of a current criminal record check for all staff.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. A wood slat on an outdoor trellis is missing exposing two rusty nails. The nails are accessible to children.
Corrective action. The manager stated this has been reported to the maintenance department and she will follow up to ensure repairs are made. Until the nails are removed they will be covered in duct tape.

Observation. A staff member used inappropriate behavioral guidance strategies when pulling a child by the lower arm, telling children they would be put outside alone and putting a child outside in the cold without a jacket
Corrective action. Please ensure behavioral guidance strategies are appropriate.

- POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The inspection decal on the fire extinguisher expired in July 2022. Fire extinguishers, smoke alarms an smoke detectors are currently being serviced and Licensing saw service persons conducting fire safety maintenance work.
