    A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

    Observation. A large wooden bench in the outdoor play area is unstable and a wood support beam for a rope swing has a nail sticking out of it.

    Corrective action. The Licensee will ensure that all areas of the yard are in good repair and have no hazards.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Areas of dry wall are chipped and damaged throughout the facility. Metal hooks securing a shelf to the wall have fallen out and the shelf may fall.

    Corrective action. The manager will submit a plan to the Licensing Office stating how and when the dry wall will be repaired and will ensure that the shelf is secured to the wall by March 7, 2025.

    Observation. The door handle on the middle door of the facility drops off at times.

    Corrective action. Please make sure the door handle is in working order.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. The facility has program rooms which are defined by furniture. Staff have divided the facility into Side A and Side B. When children arrive at the facility they are signed into Side A or B. There is no system in place to ensure that each of the 44 program rooms does not exceed its maximum capacity as stated on the facility licence. This was discussed with the manager who stated that the white board system used to track children is no longer used.

    Corrective action. A system indicating which program room a child is signed into and out of is required.
