Observation. Facility fridge that is used for storing children's food is above 4 degree Celsius
Corrective action. Manager will adjust the temperature to ensure that the temperature is between 0 - 4 degree Celsius
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. [CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION] Two adult scissors were observed in an unlocked cupboard that is accessible to the children in the Preschool / Before and After School Program.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Licensing observed that there are insufficient supplies for 18 children and 3 staff (from both program) to provide care up to 72 hours.
Corrective action. Manager explained that she will include more food and water to ensure they are enough for all the children and staff from both programs.

Observation. Children's sleeping mats with fitted sheets are stored in the classroom across the washroom, against the wall. These mats are stacked on top of each other, and touching the ground
Corrective action. Ensure that children's mats are stored safely in a hygienic way.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Fire drill for July 2023 was not practiced/recorded.
Corrective action. Ensure monthly drills are practiced and recorded.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Emergency Supplies are insufficient to implement the emergency plan. All supplies,incl. food and water were expired.
Corrective action. Ensure that sufficient supplies are available onsite to respond to any emergency.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation. 4 children's files were reviewed; 1 child's photo/digital image was missing.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete.

Observation. During the inspection the heater was observed to be very hot to the touch. This could present a burning hazard. Please provide active supervision until this is corrected.

A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.
Observation. Licensing observed that medical tape is missing from the first aid kit. Not having sufficient supplies in the first aid kit has been discussed with the Licensee previously.
Corrective action. Please ensure the first aid kit has sufficient supplies.

Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed that one of the children's emergency cards was not in the correct classroom. This is a concern as the children visit an away play space daily and the child's information is not taken with the group.
Corrective action. Please ensure to have the correct emergency contact and information cards in the bag that is taken to the away play space.

Observation. Licensing observed the following during the inspection: -The storage room door was unlocked and contained the following: air freshener, a large bottle of hand sanitizer, cleaner and a spray can of lacquer. -A cord in the classroom was loose.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Licensing observed that the fire drill for November was not recorded. In discussion with the Manager it was practiced.
Corrective action. Please ensure to record fire drills after they are completed.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Four children's records were reviewed. Two children's records were missing a medical practitioner or emergency contact. The Manager and Licensing discussed adding the name of a medical clinic or writing that the child does not have a doctor in the file.
Corrective action. Please ensure children's records are complete.

Observation. Licensing observed that a door to a storage room was unlocked. Several paint cans were observed in the room. This could present a potential hazard.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following during the inspection: -a washroom door had a hole in it. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-BCLPMD -paint chis were noted on the toy shelving and raw wood was exposed. This could make the surface difficult to clean and these areas may potentially harbour bacteria.
Corrective action. Please ensure the facility is in good repair.

Observation. Two of three staff records were reviewed. One record was missing evidence of a staffs' immunization status.
