• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following during the inspection: -Cords in both nap rooms were accessible. This could present a potential hazard -Chemical cleaners and hand sanitizer were accessible on the counter and on a cart in the classroom. This was corrected during the inspection. -Plastic bags were observed in the outdoor play area. These were removed. -Items were stored on top of the diaper mat -A tap on one of the sinks was taped off. Please ensure this is accessible to children

• MEDICATION

  A licensee must ensure that a child's medication is not accessible to any child, except that a child may have access to his or her own medication if (a) the child's parent has instructed the licensee to permit this.

  Observation. Medication that is required in an emergency was accessible to children in care. This could present a potential hazard.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.

  Observation. The staff qualifications checklist was reviewed. An ECE certificate was not observed or obtained.

  Corrective action. In discussion the staff stated that she received confirmation of the completion of her ECE certificate in June of 2024. She did not however receive the certificate in the mail. Licensing recommends the staff contact the ECE Registry to obtain a copy of the ECE Certificate.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. During the inspection the staff qualifications checklist was reviewed. Three staff were missing an ECE verification.

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. The following were observed: - The bedsheets were touching in one of the nap rooms, as the mats were stacked together. - Planks of wood were on the ground and a rusted metal piece with screws attached to a block of concrete were found at the outdoor play area.

  Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.
