    Observation. Licensing observed there are two emergency exits in the facility. Both exits were partially blocked.

    Observation. Licensing measured the water temperature. The water temperature in one of the sinks measured 49.9 degrees Celsius. Please provide active supervision in this area until this is fixed

    Corrective action. Please ensure the hot water is heated to no more than 49 degrees Celsius to meet the legislative requirement.

    Observation. A door to the closet was easy to open. On the floor were various chemicals such as bleach, Borax and laundry detergent. This was corrected during the inspection.

    Observation. During the inspection the following was observed: -4 electrical outlets did not have outlet covers -A large heavy speaker was on top of a rolling cart. This was not secured and may have the potential to fall over.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

  • LICENSING

    Applicants for licences and licensees must notify a medical health officer immediately of any change in the information provided under section 9.

    Observation. Upon arriving at the inspection Licensing observed that the children and the staff were not located in the space that the facility is licensed to use. The children were located in the main hall, above the facility. In discussion the Manager identified that there was work being done in the licensed child care space and she thought that the children could use the main hall space as it was spring break. Licensing discussed how the space was not licensed and pointed out some health and safety concerns. Several chairs were stacked high on the sides of the room. In addition there were not sufficient washrooms for the children on the same level. The children and staff re-located to the outdoor play area until the work was completed. The Director, the Manager and Licensing met briefly prior to todays inspection, at the routine inspection on February 25, 2022 to discuss the viability of the main hall space. Licensing stated that the main hall of the facility would need to be inspected prior to licensing to identify any health and safety issues and that there were not sufficient washrooms for the children in the child care on the same level. Licensing suggested scheduling an inspection time at a later date.

    Corrective action. The facility Manager or Licensee is required to notify Licensing immediately of any change that may impact the licensed area of the facility.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following in the facility: -a kettle in the kitchen was warm to the touch. This could cause a potential burning hazard. This was removed during the inspection. Licensing recommended access to the kitchen be restricted to staff only. -a coffee maker with hot water was observed on a table in the classroom -two pressurized spray bottles of disinfectant were on a table at the children's level. This was removed during the inspection -the mechanical room was left open. Loose cords were observed.
