- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. -Loose cord were observed in several rooms. This could present a potential hazard -A staff bag was located on the floor behind a closed door -Rust was observed on some fixtures in the outdoor play area. Please provide active supervision until this completed.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. -Two bottles of plant food were located in an unlocked cupboard. This was located at the children's level. This was corrected during the inspection -An unlocked cupboard contained concentrated bleach and another chemical. This was located at the children's level. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-DCSN7F
11200 - CCLR s.17 - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Several care plans were not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-DCSN7F
Corrective action. Manager has reached out to families to provide updated information
19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation. -Medication was observed. A care plan was not located with the medication outlining the course of action recommended by health care professionals for a child requiring additional support. -Medication required in an emergency was expired for two children
Corrective action. Manager said she has reached out to families to provide new emergency medications
19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. -A staff record did not contain a validation from the ECE Registry
Corrective action. This was corrected during second day of the inspection

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area: -Backpacks that were located at the children's level contained emergency medication. -Irrigation cords hanging out of planters could present a potential hazard. Licensing observed the following in the inside play areas: -A cupboard was accessible and there was access to staff bags. This could create a potential hazard -A garbage receptacle in the baby room did not have a lid and gloves were observed in the garbage. This could present a potential hazard -Several cords were not secured. This could create a potential hazard

Observation. Licensing observed the following during the inspection: -A bottle of concentrated bleach and other chemicals were located in an unlocked cupboard. This was accessible to children. This was corrected during the inspection -A bottle of bleach and water was placed on a toilet paper dispenser. A stool was placed next to this. This could present a potential hazard. This was corrected during the inspection. -Plastic bags were located on the floor in the washroom and on the counter in another washroom. This could present a potential hazard -A chemical was located in an unlocked cupboard. This could present a potential hazard. This was removed during the inspection.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Licensing observed that the fire drill was not recorded for the month of November.
Corrective action. In discussion the Manager stated the fire drill was not practiced or recorded for the month of November. Please ensure the fire drill is practiced and recorded monthly.

The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Several care plans in many classrooms were not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.
Corrective action. Please ensure care plans are reviewed annually and that the care plan is signed and the date of review is documented.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. The staff records were reviewed. One staff record did not have a site specific criminal record check

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Three classrooms had the mats stored with the bedsheets on and were on top of each other, and the bedsheets were touching. This item is a repeat contravention, and was contravened on Dec. 05, 2022 on inspection report #MZIN-CLTSJS.
Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times. Bedsheets should not be touching when stored.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection, the following were observed: - One classroom had the mats stored with the bedsheets on and were on top of each other, and the bedsheets were touching - One classroom had only one spray bottle which was used to clean both the washroom and the tables in the classroom
Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times. Bedsheets should not be touching when stored, and have two separate spray bottles for the bathroom and for the classroom for cleaning and sanitation. These spray bottles should also be labelled.

Observation. Licensing checked the children's files and observed that one child was missing on file the medical insurance plan number.
