  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - In the Kindergarten/Grade 1 classroom, Licensing observed two children couches were placed next to a kitchen structure underneath an opened window without a screen. - In the Infant and Toddler classroom, water is coming in from the emergency exit door. Licensing observed two towels that were placed on the floor and both were soaked.

    Corrective action. Manager will ensure that the layout of the classroom and the overall environment are safe for the children.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

    Observation. Fire drill was not practiced in one of the months for both Kids' Club and Early Years program.

    Corrective action. Manager will ensure that fire drill is practiced at least once each month with the children.

    A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

    Observation. One of the staff has an expired first aid. Manager said that she will not be left alone with the children in the meantime.

    Corrective action. Manager said that she will ensure that all staff has a complete file.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that in one of the classrooms, a large carpet was rolled up and was leaning against the wall, which was accessible to children and may potentially fall.

    Corrective action. Ensure a safe environment is provided to children at all times.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Peeling paint in one of the classrooms and in one of the nap rooms - Broken cabinet doors in the washrooms located in one of the classrooms. This is a repeat contravention and was contravened on Jan. 16, 2023 on inspection report #MZIN-CN5V82.

    Corrective action. One of the managers said that the facility has connected with a person who will complete the repairs.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following outdoors: - Two long planks of wood upright at the outdoor play area. One of the piece is very loose and could potentially fall and cause an injury. - A trellis outdoors used as a gate can potentially fall on children and cause an injury.

    Corrective action. One of the manager said that the facility has talked to a person who will remove and fix these items.

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

    Observation. Licensing observed that the fire drill for a few months in year 2023 were not recorded, though staff said that these drills were completed with the children.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the monthly fire drills are recorded.
