  Observation. Not all children's files contained immunization status.

  Licensing is notified within 24 hours after a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H or has a reportable communicable disease. [CCLR Sec. 55(2)(a)(b)]

  Observation. An internal incident was logged in a child's file that was reportable but not reported to Licensing.

• PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / EnvironmentNon-critical

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. The area carpet in the room is curling up on the edges creating a tripping hazard.

  For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

  Observation. The current care plan on file is incomplete and does not include all supports required by the child. Recommend moving allergy plan with child's photo from the activity area.

• MEDICATION / MedicationNon-critical

  Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]

  Observation. There are 3 Benadryl pills in the medication box with no box that includes the expiry date/physician's order. The child's epi-pen is also in the box. Staff are not clear on the usage of the Benadryl and this should be reassessed as per the attached resource with the section that reads; Epinephrine is the first line medication which should be used for the emergency management of a person having a potentially life threatening allergic reaction. Antihistamines (e.g. Benadryl )and asthma medications should not be used instead of epinephrine for treating anaphylaxis
