The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]
Observation. The metal fence that encloses the upper and lower outdoor play space has worn over 6 years of use. The fencing slats are breaking at the bottom. Today's inspection revealed slats tapped together. The tape is able to be moved and this could create a head entrapment or a could be a fall hazard/elopement risk. The lower outdoor play area is showing age and wear. Staff must monitor the wood features for breakage and splinters that could be a hazard. If these are found the Licensee must repair or replace the item. The mud kitchens are still useable but could be relocated and new or additional play equipment be added. The wedge area that creates a digging and quiet play area must be inspected daily for any hazards. The brick box allows for creative play/structures.
