- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Two tall shelves in a room accessible to the children are not secured and pose a tipping hazard.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.
Observation. Nap equipment set up in the hallway meant for one of the emergency exits.
Corrective action. Discussed the requirement that egresses remain clear of furniture and equipment.
11090 - CCLR s.15(1)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Emergency medication in a child's back pack accessible to children in care.
Corrective action. Discussed medication storage.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.
Observation. The licensee does not maintain a minor incident logbook.
Corrective action. Discussed the intent of a logbook.
19050 - CCLR s.56(1)(f) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Two individuals over the age of twelve, ordinarily present do not have a criminal record check on file.
Corrective action. The Licensee said she will be obtain CRCs for both individuals.
