A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

Observation. Name identifying who the facility manager is was not displayed on-site.

Corrective action. Ensure that the name of the facility manager is identified and displayed on-site.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. Staff said to Licensing that absent children are not recorded daily. Licensing was also shown past attendance records including yesterday, and it was observed that absent children were not recorded.

Corrective action. Ensure that absent children are recorded daily.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - 2 children's files had their parents as their emergency contact - 1 child's file (facility said the child is no longer in care) had no doctor's name/phone number, & the parents were listed as emergency contacts.

Corrective action. Ensure that emergency contacts are different from the parents, and that children's files are complete prior to starting care.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. One staff did not have a certificate validation on file.

Corrective action. Ensure the file is complete.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements]. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): There was no file for one staff present. The licensee contact corrected this matter by having the staff's documents emailed (facility manager was asked on the phone), which was then showed to Licensing.

Corrective action. Ensure that all staff have a file on-site.
