- STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The ECE validation on file for one staff was for the previous certification. During the inspection, the current validation was obtained.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure staff files are complete with all required documentation.
12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. One staff with one reference on file.
Corrective action. The manager will obtain a second reference for the staff and will ensure all staff have at least 2 references on file.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The following items were accessible to children: 1) Toilet bowl cleaner under washroom sink 2) Unlocked kitchen cabinet with cleaning supplies Upon notifying the manager, the toilet bowl cleaner was moved and stored in the locked kitchen cabinet.
Corrective action. Please ensure hazardous items and substances are not accessible to children.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. By the end of the inspection, the Manager had printed out and filed validations for all staff.
