- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Indoor: - damaged weatherstripping on the door way, exposing nails and creating entanglement, chocking hazard. - bi-fold closet needs appropriate lock to prevent finger pinching. - cupboard under the kitchen sink and washroom sink ; cleaning supplies are kept and accessible to children. - smoke alarm was making low-battery warning (chirping) indicating that maintenance is required Outdoor: -damaged, bent and corroded grate with an opening posing tripping and entrapment hazard.
Corrective action. Submit a written response to Licensing.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Indoor ( kitchen area) : - A visible gap at the base of the door frame, with deteriorated flooring. - Accumulated dirt on the surface of the floor. Play area: - an opening in the wall with exposed wiring and drywall.
Corrective action. Submit a written response to Licensing.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - OR SUPERVISION
Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. Attendance records were reviewed and Licensing noted that on several days in July, 4 children under 36 months were in care at the same time.
Corrective action. The Manager was made aware of the appropriate group size as per Schedule.E of CCLR
14020 - CCLR s.34(2)(a) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Emergency Supplies are insufficient to implement the emergency plan.
Corrective action. The manager stated that more supplies will be added to the bin.
