- A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as Family Child Care or Child-minding, must have for each child at least 3.7 m2 of usable floor area in the community care facility, excluding (a) hallways, (b) built in storage areas, (c) bathrooms, and (d) fixed appliances, or, if not fixed, large appliances that are not normally moved from one area to another.
Observation. There are groups of 8 children each in 2 rooms with gates installed that restrict children’s access to the whole space; therefore, there if not sufficient space for the children.
Corrective action. Staff said the gates will be removed.
11050 - CCLR s.14(1) - Despite this section, during the half hour before a care program begins and the half hour after a care program ends, a licensee may permit children who would otherwise be grouped in different care programs, and who are arriving at or leaving the community care facility, to be grouped together and supervised other than as required under Schedule E if (a) the care program is described as Multi-Age Child Care, Group Child Care (Under 36 Months), Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age).
Observation. The GCC (Under 36 Months) and GCC (30 Months to School Age) programs were mixed together for more than 30 minutes in the beginning of the day.
Corrective action. The manager will mix groups only for the first half hour and the last half hour of the day.

- POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must display a copy of the fire drill system in a prominent place in the community care facility.
Observation. The fire drill system was not displayed by any of the emergency doors.
Corrective action. The manager showed a floor plan but there was no indication of a system indicating where the emergency exits are. She will ensure the fire drill system is displayed in a prominent place.
13030 - CCLR s.22(3) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. 2 out of 7 children's files did not have an emergency contact.
Corrective action. The manager said that she will get the information and update the children's files.
