A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 2 staff present today did not have their certificates posted.

Corrective action. Please ensure certificates of all staff are posted.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. The following was observed: > The fire extinguisher has not been serviced. > There was insufficient water in the emergency supplies.

Corrective action. Please ensure sufficient water for up to 72 hours and that the fire extinguisher is serviced annually.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Two staff were missing site specific criminal record check clearance letters (CRC). The CRC's were from different organizations.

Corrective action. The Director said that she will request the results to be shared with her facility,

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. 3 staff files were reviewed and one staff was missing record of 2 character references.

Corrective action. The Director advised that they will obtain 2 character references.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Two staff were missing records of their immunization statuses.

Corrective action. The Director said that she will obtain records of the staff's immunization statues.
