If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

Observation. There was no written directions specified by the parent regarding the administration of medication.

Corrective action. The manager said she will obtain written consent and directions regarding the administration of medication.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.

Corrective action. The manager said she will get the immunization status for the staff.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. There was no record of validation for two staff's certificates.

Corrective action. The manager said she will validate both staff certificates.

A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

Observation. Upon inspection the managers first aid was expired. She explained she opens in the morning and the second staff comes in approximately 1.5 hours later.

Corrective action. The manager said she will schedule herelf into a first aid course and amend the schedule to ensure staff have access to someone who holds a valid first aid and CPR that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
