• MEDICATION

  If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

  Observation. There were no written directions specified by the parent or care plan regarding the administration of medication.

  Corrective action. Ensure any medication to be given to children has clear instructions and an medication permission/care plan form available.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must keep (a) in the case of employees, all records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements] for the entire time that the subject of the records is an employee of the community care facility.

  Observation. The program maintains a document summarizing the staff qualifications and documentation. This document was not available / on site / or up-to-date at the time of the inspection.

  Corrective action. Ensure staff files are complete including documentation supporting this requirement.
