A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

Observation. Observed the grass in the backyard is very long and concern that young children can not see any hazards such as holes, raised hills, etc, that could cause injury

Corrective action. Please ensure a regular maintenance schedule is followed to ensure a safe play space.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

Observation. Manager name is not posted

Corrective action. Please ensure this information is posted to be available to families.

Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

Observation. Staff on site working alone today does not have the ualifications reuired as per the CCLR. This staff generally works as a second staff.

Corrective action. Please ensure this program is appropriately staffed with the required certified staff. Please provide a staffing schedule to Licensing

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Fire drill was not recorded for any other month other than July and emergency drill record was not available

Corrective action. Please ensure all records are complete as required.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. DOB for 2 children was not accurate on documentation

Corrective action. Please ensure information is accurate

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Observation. Date of enrollment was not provided on 2 records.

Corrective action. Please ensure all information is complete at the time of enrollment

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

Observation. Fire drill was not practiced for the month of August. New staff was not fully aware of the procedure.

Corrective action. Please ensure monthly drills are practiced by all staff.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. The staff on site today does not have a CRC on file - she said that she has completed one but unsure of where it is.

Corrective action. This staff must not work alone without clearance. Please provide a health and safety plan immediately

A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.

Observation. Licensing observed that the staff did not take a first aid when picking up the children from school - further discussed.

Corrective action. Manager will ensure a first kit is available at all times, on and off site.

A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

Observation. The water in the bathroom read 49.9 with a digital thermometer. Children are unsupervised in the washroom.

Corrective action. A regulator will be added to the sink, to ensure warm water at all times, particularly in the winter months.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Licensing observed that the fire extinguisher did not have an annual service date and that the emergency plan did not specify the evacuation location. Staff were not aware of the secondary location.

Corrective action. Please ensure facility policies provide complete evacuation processes.

Corrective action. Manager will ensure that fire drills will be completed regardless of how few children are in attendance

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One staff files did not contain character references for the staff - the checklist did indicate that they were present.

Corrective action. This was corrected by the second day inspection

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A record of the person's work history was not obtained for one or more employees.

Corrective action. This was corrected by the second day inspection
