• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. -the oven plug outlet was accessible to children during play. -Upon review of the outdoor area, there was a wooden board with three nails with rust sticking out of the board next to where children were playing.

  Corrective action. Licensee placed a chair in front of the outlet, and said they will provide a written response to correct both identified items.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. The fire extinguisher had not been serviced within one year of purchase.

  Corrective action. The licensee said she will have the fire extinguisher serviced and provide a written response.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. Of 9 files reviewed one file did not contain emergency contact, and additional authorized pick up person in the event the parent or guardian are unavailable.

  Corrective action. Licensee said they will obtain this from the parent.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a cabinet under the sink that was unlatched, with cleaning products available to children.

  Corrective action. Licensee latched the cabinet during the inspection.
