- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): On the playground licensing observed a roll of chicken wire. Licensee said that the chicken wire was used for gardening.
Corrective action. Licensee removed the chicken wire immediately.
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The walls at the back of the room were in disrepair, paint was chipping, and some duct tape was placed on the corner as protection.
Corrective action. Licensee said she will look into fixing the wall and painting the area.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Licensing observed that on one day in October and one day in July the time of departure were missing.
Corrective action. Ensure times of departure are captured.

Observation. During routine inspection licensing observed that one ECE staff did not have their certificate validated.
Corrective action. Ensure ECE of current staff and new ECE certificates are validated.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. During the routine inspection it was noted that some of the walls had paint chipping and the dry wall was exposed.
Corrective action. Please ensure that the facility is in good repair.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. During the routine inspection the following was noted: - a metal shelf was blocking a non-working fridge. The shelf was not bolted to the wall. Licensee said that once the fridge is removed from the facility, the shelf will be moved to the wall and will be mounted to the wall. - nap room was crowded with various items.
Corrective action. Please ensure that you provide a healthy and safe environment.

Observation. During the routine inspection, staff file was reviewed and it was noted that a record of person's work history was missing.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. During the routine inspection of the outdoor playground the following were noted: - two Little Tikes were present on the playground. They did not have enough clearnce zone. - two piles of dog feces were on the playground under the tree - few holes approximately 5 inches in length and 3 inches in depth were present on the playground causing a tripping hazard - a watering hose was present in the back yard causing a tripping hazard - a broken plastic shovel with sharp edges was present in the corner of the playground - several pieces of a sharp plastic lid were present in various areas of the playground - in one of the corners of the playground there were a few broken plastic items. Manager said she has piled the items to be taken to the dump over the weekend.
Corrective action. Please ensure you provide a healthy and safe environment while children are present at the facility.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. During the routine inspection it was noted that the fire extinguisher was not serviced annually. This is a repeat contravention from 2022.
Corrective action. Please ensure the fire extinguisher is reviewed annually.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation. During the routine inspection three children's files were reviewed and one child's file was missing a date of enrollment. This is a repeat contravention from 2022.
Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are complete.
19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. During the routine inspection it was noted that the times including arrival and departure times were not available.This a repeat contravention from 2021.
Corrective action. Please ensure attandance and departure times are present in your daily attendance.

Observation. During the routine inspection it was noted that one child's file was not available.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.
Observation. During the routine inspection it was noted that a log of minor accidents was not present. Manager said that she communicates via text with parents when small injuries take place and does not have a log book.
Corrective action. Please ensure a log of minor accidents is available and maintained.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation. During the routine inspection three children's files were reviewed and one child's file was missing a photo of the child.
Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are complete.

11130 - CCLR s.15(3) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.
Observation. First Aid kit had some wipes that had a DIN # on it
Corrective action. Ensure no medication/wipes with DIN # is included in the first aid kit or applied on children without the parents permission.
11220 - CCLR s.23(2) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Fire Extinguisher has not been serviced annually.
Corrective action. Ensure that fire extinguisher is serviced annually and it has a service tag attached for licensing to review.

Observation. Out of 5 childrens files reviewed, 3 files did not include the date of enrolment.

A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation. Paper lamp observed within a children's playhouse fixed with a light bulb and with extended cord. The placement of this piece of equipment is not within a visual sight line.
Corrective action. ensure furniture is sturdy ,of safe construction and free from hazards to reduce risk of injury.
11080 - CCLR s.15(1)(a) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Observed cleaning supplies stored on top of the fridge behind a portable heater that was in use. The products were warm to the touch and relocated to a secure location during the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure products are safely stored as per their warnings / labels to prevent risk of injury.

Observation. Documentation supports the requirement for a care plan however there is no record of the agreement made with the family respecting participation in program of activities. The Licensee included that she is working on developing a care plan but it was not located on site or available for review.
Corrective action. please ensure a written record supports the agreement between children's families when adaptive measures are in place related to programming or other matters of care.

A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation. Observed children standing on a rocking chair with the back hitting a wall ,and trampoline rebounder located next to a wall , concern for potential injury due to the location ( lack of clearance ) of these pieces of equipment / furnishings.
Corrective action. Please ensure equipment and furnishings are safe, sturdy and positioned in such a way to provide ample clearance.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. plastic bags and medicated cream located in an unsecured drawer within the washroom.
Corrective action. Enure children do not have access to items which may be hazardous to their health and or safety.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Overall the facility was observed to require cleaning, interior of fridge visibly dirty , broken toilet paper dispenser with brackets protruding from the wall, splattered paint throughout the walls of the facility.
Corrective action. ensure a system is developed to address the cleanliness of the facility and to ensure fixtures , equipment are maintained in good repair

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. A record of fire drills could not be reviewed, Licensee stated that had been held however not recorded. Also noted fire extinguisher found behind many stored items on the counter top.
Corrective action. Ensure systems are in place to maintain monthly fire drills and to carry out the fire safety plan effectively.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care (ii) agreed to by the licensee.
Observation. Licensee providing assistance to support a child within the program, a care plan has not been developed. There is no documentation to support the steps taken by the licensee.
Corrective action. please ensure a written record supports the agreement between children's families when adaptive measures are in place to programming or other matters of care.
